Wealth and estate assessment

The wealth and estate assessment is an independent and impartial consultation. We take time to examine with you your civil, tax and family situation, your life plans and your transfer intentions, and we deliver a written report accompanied by quantified recommendations tailored to your case.

Roadmap

Scope of the assessment

The assessment is calibrated to your situation. It combines several dimensions: civil, tax, family and financial. The main areas explored together are set out below, tailored to your case from the first exchange.

1. Family composition

Spouse, PACS partner, cohabitant, joint children or children from previous unions, grandchildren, vulnerable persons to protect. Civil status and household configuration.

2. Inventory of the estate

Assets and liabilities: real estate, partnership interests and securities, securities accounts, savings accounts, life insurance, capitalisation contracts, loans. Identification of personal and marital assets, split assets and foreign assets.

3. Wishes and intentions

Protection of the spouse or partner, balance between children, transfer to grandchildren, provisions for a third party or foundation, anticipation of incapacity, business sale plan.

4. Matrimonial regime and cross-border configuration

Applicable regime, any adjustments (préciput, full attribution), designation of applicable law in cross-border situations (EU Regulation 2016/1103, Hague Convention of 14 March 1978).

5. Transfer taxation and latent capital gains

Assessment of gift and inheritance duties in the current situation (Article 779 of the French General Tax Code), exposure to the French real-estate wealth tax (IFI), latent capital gains on portfolio assets.

6. Recommendations and timetable

Solutions ranked by impact and priority: adjustment of the matrimonial regime, gift between spouses, gift to children or grandchildren, transgenerational family settlement, split usufruct, will, anticipated incapacity mandate or post-death mandate, review of life-insurance beneficiary clauses, formation of a wealth-holding civil partnership, Dutreil agreement.

Retainer and timeframe. The wealth and estate assessment is billed on a free-fee basis, agreed in a preliminary engagement letter that you sign. Depending on the complexity of the file, the indicative retainer ranges from 800 to 2,500 € including VAT. From the collection of documents to the written report, the timeframe is typically four to six weeks.
Who the assessment is for. Families approaching a transfer, single individuals without direct descendants, blended couples, executives nearing a sale, individuals with international estates, situations involving protection arrangements (minor, vulnerable person).

Video conference and remote signature. In most files, signature can be arranged remotely by electronic power of attorney, with clients attending the appointment by secure video conference. For solemn deeds (gifts, off-plan sales), an authentic power of attorney received remotely under a qualified procedure is implemented within the regulatory framework. Some deeds still require physical presence (oath, authentic will). The office will tell you, on a case-by-case basis, which arrangement applies to your file.

Notre méthode

Une préparation pensée pour vous accompagner pas à pas

Our method begins with listening, sometimes simply with a first phone call. The online questionnaire allows you, at your own pace, to gather the items we will need, without pressure and without needing to know everything from the outset.

1

Vous nous transmettez les premiers éléments

Family composition, summary estate, intentions outlined. No field is mandatory.

2

Vous joignez les pièces dont vous disposez

Family record, marriage contract if any, title deeds, securities and life-insurance contracts, recent tax assessment. You can defer what you do not have to hand.

3

Vous nous adressez votre dossier

Par courriel sécurisé. Un récapitulatif clair vous est restitué.

4

Nous prenons le relais

Initial analysis, civil and tax simulations, preparation of the consultation meeting.
